What happened, in plain words
Huayou launched a 400 million United States dollar lithium sulphate plant at Arcadia Mine in Goromonzi, the first of its kind in Africa. It converts spodumene concentrate into battery grade lithium sulphate at 50 000 tonnes a year. Jobs were created during construction and more hiring was expected once the plant ran, but no figures were published. The plant was built ahead of Zimbabwe's ban on exporting lithium concentrate, so it protects local processing work.
