Research and Media Support Officer

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) at the Australian Embassy in Harare is inviting applications for the position of Research and Media Support Officer .

The Embassy is seeking a candidate with strong research capability, sound judgement in monitoring media developments, and the communication skills required to maintain a social media presence that accurately and positively represents Australia across the region.

The Australian Embassy in Harare is accredited to Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Republic of Congo.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the Embassy's website and social media output.
• Provide policy research support to the political, economic and public diplomacy team.
• Assist with organising meetings, visits and stakeholder engagements.
• Monitor media developments and open-source reporting across the Embassy's countries of accreditation.
• Support the Embassy's strategic communications and public diplomacy activities.
• Maintain professional engagement across government, diplomatic, academic and media circles.

Requirements

• Proven research and analytical skills, ideally in a political, economic or social context.
• Experience in communications or media.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Sound judgement in monitoring and assessing media developments.
• The ability to represent the Embassy appropriately across government, diplomatic, academic and media circles.
• French language skills are desirable.
• Candidates must be eligible to work in Zimbabwe .

Salary

USD 2,562.87 per month
