About the role

Nzeve Deaf Centre is seeking a qualified and experienced independent consultant or consultancy firm to conduct the final summative evaluation of the Our Hands Together (OHT) Project , implemented from January 2024 to December 2026 in Makoni and Buhera Districts, Manicaland Province, Zimbabwe, with support from Tearfund Australia.

The project seeks to improve opportunities and acceptance of Persons with Disabilities within their communities, improve reintegration of children and Persons with Disabilities into community spheres, and improve the income status and economic capabilities of households with children and Persons with Disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the extent to which the project achieved its intended objectives, outcomes and targets.
  • Examine the contribution of project interventions to improved inclusion, participation and acceptance of C/PWDs.
  • Assess changes in access to specialised support services among C/PWDs.
  • Assess changes in income status and economic capabilities of households with C/PWDs.
  • Document the experiences and perspectives of PWDs, caregivers, community members and other stakeholders.
  • Identify unintended positive and negative outcomes.
  • Identify promising practices, innovations and approaches.
  • Generate practical lessons and recommendations for future implementation, adaptation and potential replication.

Requirements

  • Proven experience conducting final evaluations of development projects.
  • Experience in disability inclusion, livelihoods, community development or related programming.
  • Strong experience in participatory and qualitative research methods.
  • Experience applying inclusive and ethical approaches when working with Persons with Disabilities and children.
  • Understanding of informed consent, confidentiality, safeguarding and ethical data collection.
  • Fluency in Shona.
  • Strong analytical, report-writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate evaluation findings into clear and practical recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain professional objectivity.
  • No prior involvement in the design, implementation or management of the OHT Project.
  • Willingness to comply with Nzeve Deaf Centre's safeguarding policies and procedures.
