Hourly contracts running beyond two months attract the minimum wage
Contracts. Provisions on hourly and short contracts
In plain words
Where a person is engaged on an hourly basis and the engagement runs for more than two months, they must receive at least the equivalent of the minimum wage for the work.
This closes a practice of keeping people on rolling hourly engagements at rates below the sector minimum. The comparison is to the applicable minimum wage, which in most sectors is set by the National Employment Council collective bargaining agreement rather than by a single national figure.
Applies to: Employees engaged on an hourly basis for more than two months
