Pension contributions are four and a half percent from each side, up to a ceiling
Safety and social security. Pension and Other Benefits Scheme contributions
In plain words
The employer pays four and a half percent and the employee pays four and a half percent of insurable earnings towards the national pension scheme, making nine percent in total. Contributions stop once earnings pass the ceiling.
The maximum insurable earnings ceiling is reviewed by the National Social Security Authority and is pegged to the Total Consumption Poverty Line published by the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency, so the figure changes. Always check the current ceiling with the Authority before running a payroll.
Applies to: Employers and employees in covered employment
