In plain words

A female employee gets ninety eight days of maternity leave on full pay. Since the 2023 amendment there is no longer a rule that she must have worked for one year first, and there is no longer a limit on how many times she can take it.

Before the Labour Amendment Act of 2023 an employee had to have served for at least one year before qualifying, and the number of occasions on which maternity leave could be taken was capped. The amendment removed both restrictions. Employees on fixed term contracts now receive the same maternity leave benefit as permanent employees. Zimbabwean law does not provide for paternity leave.

Applies to: All female employees covered by the Labour Act
