The job’s critical role is to lead and oversee the mechanical\nengineering operations across the Organisation's premises, including critical\ninfrastructure such as data centres, fire protection systems, and building\nservices. The role involves planning, preventive maintenance, project\nexecution, and ensuring the integrity and reliability of all mechanical systems\nin line with the highest safety, regulatory, and operational standards.\nKEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\n•\tPlan, supervise, and manage all mechanical systems including,\nplumbing and drainage systems, fire protection systems, elevators,\ndiesel generators, pumps, HVAC systems and building automation\nsystems across all the Organisation’s buildings and properties.\n•\tManage shopfitting, refurbishment, renovation and fit-out projects for\noffices, banking halls, vaults, cash centres, training facilities and\nother properties, ensuring timely delivery within approved budgets.\n•\tDevelop\tand\timplement\tpreventive,\tpredictive\tand\tcorrective\nmaintenance programmes aimed at maximizing equipment reliability,\nsafety and operational availability.\n•\tUse CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and\nother facility management tools to monitor asset performance,\nmaintenance history and lifecycle costs.\n•\tManage consultants, contractors and service providers, ensuring\ncompliance with contract specifications, quality standards, project\ntimelines, service level agreements (SLAs) and procurement\nrequirements.\n•\tManage mechanical works related to new construction, retrofitting,\nand modernisation of facilities.\n•\tCoordinate with architects, consultants, and contractors to ensure\ncompliance with specifications, timelines, and budget.\n•\tEnsure adherence to safety codes, fire safety norms, building\nregulations, energy codes and government guidelines.\n•\tConduct\tregular\tsafety\taudits,\trisk\tassessments,\tand\tensure\ncompliance with internal and external audit findings.\n•\tPromote energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainable\npractices in mechanical operations.\n•\tDevelop annual operating and capital expenditure budgets for\nmechanical services, facilities upgrades, maintenance programmes\nand major equipment replacements.\n•\tPrepare and present management reports on maintenance\nperformance, project status, asset condition, regulatory compliance,\nrisk management and engineering improvement initiatives.\n•\tLead, mentor and develop engineering, technical and maintenance\nteams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, safety and\ncontinuous improvement.\n•\tProvide specialist mechanical engineering advice to senior\nmanagement on infrastructure planning, business continuity,\ntechnology upgrades and strategic facilities management.\n•\tProvide support for mission-critical assignments involving shopfitting,\nplumbing and drainage, and mechanical systems, and undertake any\nrelated duties as assigned by management from time to time.\nQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE\nThe ideal candidate should have:\n• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent\nqualification from a recognized University.\n• At least five (5) years’ post-qualification experience in mechanical\nengineering, facilities management, or building services engineering,\nincluding a minimum of three (3) years in a managerial position.\n• Demonstrated experience in the successful delivery and management\nof plant and equipment maintenance, shopfitting, refurbishment, office\nfit-outs, building modernisation, and infrastructure development\nprojects.\n• Experience working in high-security and mission-critical environments\nwill be an added advantage.\nSKILLS AND COMPETENCES\n• Strong knowledge of building mechanical systems and services.\n• Familiarity with fire safety norms.\nStrong analytical, leadership and project management skills\n•\n.\nHigh computer literacy and p\n•\nand Excel.\nroficient in AutoCAD, MS Project, CMMS\nExperience working in secure and sensitive operational environments\n•\n.\neam\n• Excellent leadership and t\nmanagement skills.\nd\n• Good problem-solving and\necision-making skills.</p>","identifier":{"@type":"PropertyValue","name":"ipcjobs.org","value":"IPCJ-001417"},"datePosted":"2026-09-25","validThrough":"2026-10-09T21:59:59.000Z","employmentType":"CONTRACT","hiringOrganization":{"@type":"Organization","name":"A leading Harare human resources organisation"},"jobLocation":{"@type":"Place","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressLocality":"Harare","addressRegion":"Harare","addressCountry":"ZW"}},"directApply":true}
